Bobcats Take Top Spot in OCCAC
The Bobcats Women's Basketball team traveled to Hocking College 2/24 where they beat the Hawks 80-59 to move their record to 2-1, and an OCCAC best 2-0 in conference play. Tahjanae Flowers-Coleman led the way with 16 points, Treasur Jones had a double- double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Nya Farrell had 12, Natavia Walker had 12, Keara Wilson and Normajanae Bohannon each had 11, and Chy'Rah Darrickaiya Smith- Isom rounded out the scoring with 4.
The Bobcats showed no sign of rust as they came out and took a commanding 36-18 lead in their first half of basketball in over two weeks. The played aggressive defense recording 10 steals on the night that turned into transition points as they ran the floor and dictated the flow of the game for most of the night. The second half was a more closely contested match up, with the Bobcats coming out on top 44-41. However, the Hawks were never able to cut into the 16 point deficit from the Bobcats blistering first half scoring onslaught. This win moves the Bobcats into first in the OCCAC where they lead the league in points per game, 68, and defensive points allowed, 58. Individually, Treasur Jones is fifth in the league in scoring averaging 17 points a night while Tahjanae Flowers-Coleman is also in the top 10 at number 8 with 13 points per game.
The women are back in action March 7th home at Hooptech Vs Hocking.
