Women Win First OCCAC Championship
The Bobcats women's basketball team defeated Clark State 83-45 to win their first OCCAC Championship in the program's short history. The women finish the OCCAC season with a record of 9-2 and 5-1 in conference play. They finish the season with the number one ranked offense and the number one ranked defense in the conference, as well as the top 2 scorers in the conference in Keara Wilson with 177 points, and Tahjanae Flowers-Coleman with 131 points. Flowers- Coleman was also third in the conference in rebounds with 94 while Wilson was third in the conference in assists with 38. The women will be playing at Ursuline College Saturday April 10th at 1pm. Treasur Jones led all scorers in this final OCCAC match up with 20 points, she also had 7 rebounds, Tahjanae Flowers-Coleman had 16 points and 14 rebounds, Keara Wilson had 16 points, and Ja-Neesa Williams had her best game of the season with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
The Bobcats trailed out of the gates in this one as they were 0-9 from behind the three point in the 1st quarter and held to only 10 points. They trailed 11-10 to the Eagles after 1. Keara Wilson got going in the second with 2 of her 4 three balls on the day and Taj Flowers-Coleman pulled down 5 boards and scored six points. The Bobcats would go into the half leading 35-22. Treasur Jones would take over out of the break scoring 15 of her 20 points in the third quarter shooting 6-7 from the field including 3-3 from behind the arc. The Bobcats would end the quarter with a 31 point lead up 64-33. They would expand on that lead further behind Ja-Neesa Williams 10 points and 7 rebounds in the quarter. The Bobcats would finish out the 38 point victory to lock up conference and are now one win away from punching their ticket to the NJCAA Championships in Port Huron Michigan.
