Bobcats Top Hawks, Move to 5-1
The women's basketball team topped the Hocking College Hawks 86-64 on Saturday night at Hooptech to move to 5-1 on the season. A record that keeps them a top the OCCAC standings. Tahjanae Flowers-Coleman led the Bobcats with 21 points and 11 rebounds for her second double double on the season, Chy'Rah Darrickaiya Smith- Isom had her best game so far with 12 points 9 rebounds and 4 steals, and Keara Wilson had another good game with 14 points and 7 assists.
This game started with the Bobcats trailing 9-0 four minutes into the game before Keara Wilson hit a three to get them on the board 9-3. After the Wilson triple, the Bobcats would go on a 15 point run of their own before the Hawks were next able to put the ball in the basket. They would end the first quarter up 20-14, Treasur Jones came off the bench and scored 5 of her seven points to jumpstart the Bobcats in the first. The Bobcats would stretch the lead to 13 across the second quarter behind Tahjanae Coleman- Flowers' 8 points and 5 rebounds. They would go into halftime leading 37-24.
For the third game in a row, the Bobcats would come roaring out of the break blowing this one open with a 28 point third quarter. Tahjanae picked up where she left off at halftime with 6 more points and 4 more rebounds, but the scoring was fairly consistent across the roster with Bobcat guards Wilson and Alesia Marshall combining to score 6 points and dish out 6 assists in the quarter. The Bobcats would close out the third with a Natavia Walker lay up at the buzzer to put them up 65-41. They would cruise through the fourth quarter to win this one 86-64, their largest margin of victory and most points scored in a single game all season. This win puts the Bobcats at 5-1 on the season and helps them remain firmly atop the OCCAC standings. They play a rematch with the Eagles of Cark State this Tuesday at Clark State at 5pm.
