On Saturday 3/6 the Women's Basketball team traveled to Hocking and overmatched the Hawks for a final score of 74-68. This win is their second consecutive win against the Hawks and moves their record to an OCCAC best 3-1 on the season. Keara Wilson led the way for the Bobcats with her best game of the season scoring 23 points and dishing out 6 assists.Rajana Cox had 13 points to go along with 6 assists, Treasur Jones had 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Tela Williams had her best game of the season with 10 points.
The Hawks led for most of the first half as the Bobcats had trouble slowing down the scoring pair of Manuel and Lazaro. The Hawks were up 4 when Wilson hit a three at the buzzer ending the first quarter to end a 5 point Hawks run and bring the Bobcats back within 1. The Hawks continued to lead in the second quarter extending the lead to 26-20 with 2 mins to play before the Bobcats went on a 6 point run fueled by good transition offense and open court passes to tie the game up at 26 just before halftime.
The third quarter won this game for the Cats as they exploded out of the break scoring 26 and leading by 8 at the buzzer. They continued the scoring barrage for the first 7 minutes of the 4th quarter, as they led by 13 with 3 minutes to go. The Hawks would not go quietly, as they cut the lead back to 4 with under a minute to play behind good free throw shooting. A Keara Wilson three point basket, pair of free throws, and cross court assist to Tela Williams for an and 1 basket helped seal this game down the stretch for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats are currently 3-1 on the season and remain in 1st in the OCCAC standings. They will be back in action tomorrow at 7:30pm as they travel to Clark State Community College for another OCCAC Matchup with the Eagles.
