Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) Falls on the Road at Malone, 68–54
CANTON, OH — Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) battled throughout but couldn't overcome a slow offensive start Tuesday night, falling 68–54 to NCAA Division II Malone inside Osborne Hall.
The Bobcats struggled to find rhythm early, shooting just 24% in the first half and heading into the break trailing 30–20. Despite improved efficiency in the second half — shooting nearly 40% after halftime — Malone answered each push with timely scoring and strong interior play.
Phillip Byrd was the bright spot for B&SC, turning in an efficient and physical performance. Byrd led all Bobcats with 19 points (7–10 FG, 5–6 FT) while adding 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Detric Hearst added 10 points and 5 rebounds, and Adeboye Akinode provided 7 points and toughness around the rim.
Defensively, Bryant & Stratton forced 12 steals and created pressure in the backcourt, but Malone's balance proved difficult to contain. The Pioneers had three players score 18+ points, including 22 from guard Nic Williams and 18 each from Emmanuel Oladeru and Jacob Ernst.
Malone used a +13 rebounding margin (45–32) and a 36–26 advantage in paint points to maintain control throughout.
Bryant & Stratton finished the night shooting 32.3% from the field and 17.6% from three, while Malone countered at 46.2% overall.
