Bobcats Battle in High-Scoring Home Opener
Pepper Pike, OH (November 3, 2025) — In a high-octane matchup to open their NJCAA season, the Bryant & Stratton College (Ohio) Bobcats came up just short in a 116–103 shootout against Butler County Community College (PA) on Monday night at Sister Diana Stano Athletic Center.
The Bobcats showcased explosive offense throughout the night, with sophomore guard Aaron Wilson leading the charge with 28 points, 7 assists, and 9 steals in a standout two-way performance. Donovan Barnes dominated the paint and the free throw line, recording a monster 27-point, 12-rebound double-double, going 15-of-18 from the stripe. Zavionn Thurman added another double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists, continuing to impact the game across the board.
Despite the offensive surge, Butler County's size and interior presence proved difficult to contain. The Pioneers were led by Nicholas DelGratta, who posted a 32-point, 10-rebound outing, while Da'Veon Hall poured in 24 points and 10 rebounds. Their combined effort helped Butler County control the glass and maintain a first-half lead of 70–56.
Bryant & Stratton made several second-half pushes, cutting the deficit to single digits behind energy plays from Blake Brookenthal (15 points, 5 rebounds) and Remi Gilmore (9 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists). The Bobcats shot 42.9% from the field and out-rebounded the Pioneers 52–47, but Butler's transition game and timely second-chance buckets kept them in control down the stretch.
The Bobcats drop to 0–1 on the young NJCAA season and will look to bounce back at home on Wednesday, November 5th, when they host Ohio Valley Community College at 8:00 PM EST inside Ursuline College's Sister Diana Stano Athletic Center.
