Bobcats Sweep PSU In Midweek Action
The PSU Beaver Nittany Lions made a trip to Cisar Field and left with two losses as the Bobcats extended their winning streak to six games with wins of 10-6 and 14-5. Leading the offense on the day with 4 hits was Jackson Homage. He finished 4 for 6 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. The Bobcat offense showed a balance that had been lacking so far in the season as 8 different hitters drove in multiple runs, and 6 different Bobcat hitters had multiple hits on the day.
Game 1
PSU Beaver jumped out in front with two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Bobcats would squash any thoughts of a runaway victory with 5 runs of their own in the bottom of the first. The scoring was highlighted by a pair of RBI doubles off the bats of John Costella and Rontrell Greer, and a single from Tyler Lathrop. Lathrop led the Bobcats offense from the 9 hole in game one as he finished the game 2-4 with 3 RBI's and a run scored. While the Lions out hit the Bobcats 12 to 8, the 5 errors they made in the game left the door open for the Bobcats. Hudson Cornett got the start on the mound. He tossed the first 3.1 innings allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks while striking out one. Connor Lovejoy entered in the fourth inning with one out and the bases loaded. He would work out of the jam preserving the Bobcat lead and go on to pitch clean frames in the 5th and 6th before turning the game over to hard throwing righty Austen Price to finish the game with a clean 7th. The Bobcats win game 1 10-6
Game 2
The Bobcats would play from ahead in game 2 as singles by Jackson Homage and Tylor Wolfe would plate the game's first run. The game would get broken open in the bottom of the third inning when the Bobcats would take advantage of 5 hits, 3 walks and a PSU Beaver error to plate 7 runs in the frame. The offensive eruption was appreciated, but not needed as Sophomore left hander Kade Compeau had the PSU Beaver bats in check all afternoon. He would earn the win allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5 across his 5 innings of work. Tylor Wolfe and CJ Kross would combine to finish the last 2 innings. Kross worked 1.1 innings out of the bullpen striking out two batters and tossing 10 of his 12 pitches for strikes. Jackson Homage led the offense with 3 hits in game 2. He scored twice and drove in a run. Dylan Cutler finished with 2 hits and drove in a pair. Aaron Miranda also finished with a pair of hits and drove in 3. The Bobcats would complete the two game sweep winning the nightcap by a final score of 14-5.
